Join us for our first book club event for preteen readers of the school year! We will discuss The First Rule of Punk by Celia C. Perez.

Twelve-year-old María Luisa O’Neill-Morales (who really prefers to be called Malú) reluctantly moves with her Mexican-American mother to Chicago and starts seventh grade with a bang–violating the dress code with her punk rock aesthetic and spurning the middle school’s most popular girl in favor of starting a band with a group of like-minded weirdos.

Check out a copy of the book at our Circulation Desk any time before the event. The group will also enjoy a book-related craft or activity.

This book club recommended for students in grades 4-6. Readers in grade 4 should choose either this book club (Juvenile middle grade books) or the Page Turners book club (Juvenile chapter books) based on current reading ability.
