Library Artwork Donation from Nancy Markowich
The Library received a special donation recently from Artist Nancy Markowich.
Nancy started painting seriously after retiring from art teaching. She switched places in the classroom and became the student where she could devote her time and passion to oil painting. She uses a traditional approach. Working with a Grisaille, she does a drawing of the subject, transfers the drawing to canvas, and then paints the first layer in shades of gray. In layer two, color in applied referring to the values that were already established. By layer three, she is refining the color, focal point, and light source.
Originally, Nancy started painting landscapes. Inviting viewers to walk through the paintings going far into the distance to experience the majesty of nature.
Recently, Nancy has been painting still lifes. Her work has been accepted in many juried shows.
