Bessie Coleman, Sat., Feb. 8, 2 pm

A small airplane flying near dramatic clouds at sunset.

Join actor, educator, and historical interpreter Dr. Daisy Century as she brings Bessie Coleman to HVL.

The first African-American woman to become a licensed airplane pilot, and the first American to hold an international pilot license, Bessie Coleman was a woman who didn’t give up. Dr. Century’s portrayal of this determined figure is one that is filled with tales of barnstorming and stunts with parachutes, showcasing a life that broke the mold. Bessie inspires the audience to identify with a woman who risked everything to make her dream a reality.
