We are an established library looking for an organized, creative, service-oriented library leader with experience in planning, budgeting, programming, collection development, and staff development.
Background
Huntingdon Valley Library has been in existence since 1871 in many iterations and locations. The current library enjoys a high level of support from its community with a budget of $621,000, and has the support of the Lower Moreland Township, Montgomery County Library District, and Montgomery County Library & Information Network Consortium. Located in a suburb of Philadelphia, the library serves a growing and diverse population of more than 12,000 residents.
The Library Director will partner with a seasoned board of directors to execute the library’s strategic plan and work towards a capital campaign and library renovation. The successful candidate will work effectively with the library’s staff of 3 full-time and 16 part-time staff and have a strong philosophy of customer service. The ideal candidate will embrace the library’s values and have the necessary vision to maintain and shape the library’s future growth and role in the community.
Qualifications
Ability to qualify for Professional Library Certifications required. Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited college or university preferred. Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible library administration experience, including at least three years in a supervisory capacity.
Salary
Salary beginning at $55,000 depending on education and experience. This position offers a benefits package including health/dental/vision insurance, paid leave, retirement benefits, life insurance, disability, and other benefits.
