Fall is back, and we are so excited for this season of programming for patrons in grades 6-12! Stop in for our new workshops taught by local artists, earn your CPR certification, battle with our robots, and participate in our array of monthly clubs.

Special Programming for Our Young Adults

Library After Hours for Teens: The Haunted LibraryHaunted LIbrary 10-19-19

Saturday, October 19, 7-9 pm

On Saturday the 19th we will open the library after hours just for our teen patrons. What happens in the library after dark? You’ll have to show up to find out!

Join us for this new event and wind your way through the stacks as you discover the horror that is : The Haunted Library.

Open to students in grades 6-12.

CPR Certification for Teens*

Sunday, November 3, 2-4:30 pm

Earn a 2-year certification for adult, infant & child CPR/AED/First Aid from the American Safety and Health Institute.

Open to students in grades 6-12.

Registration is required and class size is limited. $10 will be due at the start of class.

 

Comic tips 11.19Comic Book Tips & Tricks*

Thursdays, November 7 & 14, 6:30-8:30 pm

Join comic book artist Keville A. Bowen for this two-session workshop which will focus on comic creation and illustration.

Open to students in grades 6 – 12.

Registration is required and class size is limited.

Robot Wranglers – Balloon Pop Challenge

Saturday, November 9, 1-2 pm

Work together in teams to create offense and defense for your robots. Then, enjoy watching your robots have a balloon pop battle in a ring!

Open to students in grades 6-8.

Registration is required and class size is limited.

Introduction to Jewelry Making*

Saturday, December 14, 1-4 pm

Learn the basics of jewelry making from artist Marthe Roberts/Shea. Participants will learn cold-joining techniques and create a pair of earrings or a necklace to keep or gift. Gift wrapping supplies and light refreshments will also be available.

Open to students in grades 6-12.

Registration is required and class size is limited.

Monthly Club Meetings YABC 10-2019

Young Adult Book Club

A book club for students in grades 7-12. Fridays at 3:30 pm.

All book club meetings include discussion, a book-related activity, and snacks.

DIY Teens

A new S.T.E.A.M. club focusing on creativity and problem solving for students in grades 6-12. Fridays at 3:30 pm.

  • November 8 – Tiny House Model Challenge

Game Knights Meet-Ups

These informal gatherings of youth in grades 6-12 will take place in our teen lounge area. Thursdays at 7:00 pm. During these meet-ups tabletop games will be available at the circulation desk for teen use (including Magic: The Gathering practice decks). Drop in to find new games, new decks, new strategies, and new friends.

Teen Advisory Board Meetings

T.A.B. is our group of youth advisors in grades 9-12. Participants meet with library staff once a month to brainstorm ideas, prepare for events, and work on creative projects that improve our library, while earning volunteer hours.
