Children’s Summer Reading Begins June 25

Libraries Rock at Huntingdon Valley Library’s Children’s Summer Reading Program!

Registration begins on

Monday, June 25

Visit our volunteers at the registration table to pick up your bag, grab a calendar of events, and start reading!

This summer, when they reach their reading milestones, participants will have the option of choosing a raffle tickets toward the 12 Grand Prize Raffle Baskets, a book from our book of choice cart, OR a prize from the treasure chest. Children will also have the opportunity to win a special prize by completing activities as part of our new Summer Quest program!

Wednesday Family Programs include Daria World Music, Cartooning Rocks with Paul Merklein, the Magic of Sharks, The Franklin Institute’s “Sound, Music and Math” program, Eyes of the Wild, Harry Potter Night, and close with performers Two of a Kind.

Children who are musically-inclined or curious should join Dayle Music for the Traveling Musical Instrument Museum on August 13. Library LEGO Club and Friday Family Movies will alternate every other Friday afternoon. Multiple coding sessions for different ages with our Dash & Dot robots are scheduled throughout the summer. Makers will enjoy Rock Painting on June 28 and Homemade Instrument Crafts on July 26, while budding scientists and culinary artists will want to check out Sweet, Sweet Science on August 2.

Storytimes abound for the young ones. Weekly Preschool Storytimes (Mondays) and Toddler Storytimes (Tuesdays) begin on June 25 and run throughout the summer. Babies and their caregivers will delight in Bounce and Rhyme Babytime on July 19 and August 9. Families with children of all ages can join us every other Saturday (beginning June 23) for Saturday Storytimes.

Please visit the Calendar or check out the Summer Reading tri-fold for more information about any of these programs.

Thank you to our sponsors—the Friends of Huntingdon Valley Library, Dairy Queen of Bethayres, and Lee’s Hoagie House of Southampton—for making our Summer Reading Program possible!
