May is traditionally when we take some time off to prepare for Summer Reading, which kicks off June 25. The theme this year is “Libraries Rock!” and we will have fun events for children, teens, and adults…just like always! While we wait for that, here are some events for children and teens scheduled for May:

Friday, May 4 at 3 pm
Teen Advisory Board Meeting

The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is a group of Teens in grades 9-12 that meets once a month to brainstorm ideas, prepare for Teen events, or work on creative library projects.

Rhythm Babies

Join us in a lively 45-minute monthly class for you and your little loves! Rhythm Babies is designed to improve young children’s auditory senses, cognitive, and musical skills through singing, rhythm, and creative movement activities.

Included are: The Tale of Peter Rabbit, The Tale of Benjamin Bunny ,and The Tale of Mrs. Tittlemouse.

Online Registration Begins: Science in the Summer

Science Summer 2017Online registration for GSK Science in the Summer begins at noon for Montgomery County libraries!

GSK Science in the Summer is a fun and free science education program sponsored by GSK and administered by The Franklin Institute. This summer’s program will explore the Science of Space. Class sizes are limited to 16 students each and the classes fill up quickly, so be sure to register early!

Level I classes are for children entering grades 2 & 3. Level II classes are for children entering grades 4-6.

Classes will be held here on July 11 & 12 from 10 am-noon for Level I students and 1-3 pm for Level II students.

Meet Dash. Parent-Child Intro to Coding Grades K-2

Meet Dash.dash

Each Parent-Child team will learn simple coding skills to make Dash the robot move, dance and light up.

Registration is limited to 8 teams. Participants will be selected via lottery. PLEASE REGISTER.

Lottery winners will be announced one week before.
